#MeetTheTeam 2016: Alice

S c r o l l D o w n

AliceWe are halfway through our #MeetTheTeam episodes: we’re now introducing our 5th teacher, out of 9 from all around the world! Meet Alice, a student of Oxford University who will begin a full semester of English teaching and lecturing at our camp, before moving to Brescia to work at a high school. Together with our staff member Martina, she will teach kindergarten kids (our “ducklings”), for whom she prepared quite a formidable lesson plan! Let’s get to know her.

Introduce yourself to our friends at the camp!

Ciao! I am Alice, I’m 20 years old and I currently live in Oxford, England where I am studying an undergraduate degree in French & Italian. I can’t wait to get out to Italy to meet all of the children and have a really fun couple of weeks! In my free time I am keen on sailing and rowing (it is Oxford after all) and I am very passionate about the environment, which is something I hope to incorporate into my teaching this summer. I spent last summer teaching in a school in rural Uganda, so I’m hoping we can have as much fun in classes this year!

Why did you choose our camp?
I am really excited to be part of an English camp which has fun at the heart of its learning- something that can be so easily missed out when it comes to learning languages. I am particularly looking forward to the final show at the end of the camp and channelling my creative juices to help the children put on what will no doubt be a fabulous performance! And of course, I would never turn down an opportunity to experience the cultural (and gastronomic!) delights of spending time in Italy…

What kind of teacher will you be?
While it is of course important that the camp is valuable for the English learning of the children, I want to make sure that this takes place in an environment that is fun and exciting as well as respectful and safe. I will listen to the children, and be alert to making sure that they are always enjoying themselves; and take the necessary responsible measures if not to sort out any problems as soon as possible. I am full of energy and I hope that this will help to excite the children and make them enthusiastic about the English work we will do with them.

Thank you Alice for your contribution! See you soon with our next interview.
